On the other hand, Anxiety is a more prolonged and generalized feeling of unease, fear, or worry. About Mindful Matters

George Nikolaou - Mental Health Therpist

Hello my name is George Nikolaou and I am the founder of MyMindfulMatters. I am a licensed Psychotherapeutic Counsellor accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

 

MyMindfulMatters is place where I can work with you on what might be causing you emotional difficulties, stress, anxiety, issues with your interpersonal relationships, or affect your mental health.


My practice also includes helping clients with work-related stress, coping with grief and loss and sleeping problems. I have also been working with first responders and emergency medical dispatchers.

 

My philosophy is placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my approach and make sure that I treat everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Overall, I would describe myself as an integrative humanistic therapist who emphasizes in building strong therapeutic relationships through genuineness, warmth, empathy, and unconditional positive regard.


I utilize evidence-based practices and I strive to support, encourage, educate and empower my clients. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Together we'll work side by side to help strengthen awareness, communication and increase personal growth. We will also identify strengths, patterns, coping skills and increase confidence.

  • What is MyMindfulMatters?
    MyMindfulMatters is a therapy platform and it’s 100% online. Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable therapy services to everyone. With MyMindfulMatters, you can book live sessions and/or message a professional therapist anytime.
  • How do I know MyMindfulMatters is right for me?
    MyMindfulMatters may be right for you if you're looking to improve the quality of your life, learn more about yourself and grow personally. Whenever there is anything that interferes with your happiness or prevents you from achieving your goals, we may be able to help. MyMindfulMatters may not be the right solution for you if any of the following is true: You are a minor or you are under the care of a legal guardian. You are in an urgent crisis or an emergency. You were required to undergo therapy either by a court order or by any other authority. You do not have a device that can connect to the Internet or you do not have a reliable Internet connection.
  • Is MyMindfulMatters a substitute for traditional face-to-face therapy?
    Any Professional who works through MyMindfulMatters is a registered therapist who is accredited to provide therapy. However, while any of the therapy services provided through MyMindFulMatters may have similar benefits, it's not capable of substituting for traditional face-to-face therapy in every case. Please note that your therapist won't be able to make any official diagnosis, fulfil any court order or prescribe medication.
  • How long does it take to start therapy after I sign up?
    This process can take a few hours or a few days, depending on the therapist’s availability.
  • How will I communicate with my therapist?
    You can get therapy in four ways: Exchanging text messages with your therapist Chatting live with your therapist Having audio calls with your therapist Video conferencing with your therapist You can use different ways at different times, based on your needs, availability, and convenience.
  • How does Messaging work?
    Messaging to your therapist becomes available after you sign up for any of our paid subscription packages. Typically, your therapist will reply to your message as soon as possible. However, that could be affected by factors such as availability and time zone. Although there is a 24-hour guarantee of a reply, it is more likely to receive a few daily replies. Messages sent between 8:00 and 17:00 GMT (Monday – Friday) will most probably receive a reply by 20:00 GMT. Messages sent after 17:00 GMT, are more likely to receive a reply to the following working day.
  • How do Live Video Sessions work?
    Depending on your subscription type, you will be able to book 2 or 4 live sessions per calendar month, starting from the day you sign up. After becoming a member, you will receive an email with a link to a calendar that provides you with your therapist's availability and you will be able to choose the day and time of your preference. Once you book a session, you will be able to reschedule at any time, until 24 hours before the session starts. You can only book one session at a time and you will be required to be online at the time of the session. In case of an emergency, or you running late, please notify the therapist, if possible. A link for the Live Video Session will be sent via email, or text, depending on your preference. No extra subscription, log-in or instalment is needed; simply click on the link provided at the time of the session.
  • How do Audio Calls work?
    Audio Calls work exactly under the same principle as Live Video Sessions, with the difference being that you can turn the video feature off.
  • How long can I use MyMindfulMatters for?
    This depends on your needs and varies a lot from one person to another. Some people feel they get most of the value after just a few weeks, while others prefer to stick to the program for an extended period of time. This is completely up to you.
  • Can I pause my subscription?
    Yes, you can pause your subscription at any time by letting your therapist know. As soon as that happens, you will not be able to use any features of your paid plan until your subscription resumes. However, you will be able to contact your therapist for important matters. Also, there is no limit on how often you can pause your subscription, or for how long; that depends entirely on your availability and circumstances.
  • How does Confidentiality work?
    Typically, the therapist will keep what you tell them confidential, but there are limited exceptions. For example, if you threaten grave harm to yourself or to someone else, the therapist may be required to report this information to relevant authorities. The same goes if you have broken or are about to break the law or commit a crime. Therapists can also be subject to ongoing professional supervision, as required by the association they are registered with. Before starting therapy, your therapist will discuss confidentiality with you, but please let your therapist know if you have any concerns or questions.
  • What happens if my therapist becomes unavailable?
    Your therapist is a human, just like you; with a life outside the therapy room. If for any reason (e.g. holidays or an emergency) he/she becomes unavailable, your subscription will either be paused, or extended, until your therapist is available again. Depending on the situation, your subscription may be paused, and you will not be able to use any of the features of your paid plan (e.g. messaging); or your subscription could be extended, which means we will add to your plan a free period that matches your therapist's absence period.
  • What is the Cancellation Policy
    Notice Period: Clients must provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellation Fees: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will not be refunded. That also includes no-shows or same-day cancellations. Emergency Exceptions: Exceptions may occur in cases of sudden illness, emergencies, or severe weather conditions, at the therapist's discretion. Communication Method: Cancellations should be communicated to the therapist (if that is possible)
